63 year old Mr. Chetan Chauhan, former cricketer / politician, receives the Inspirational Achiever Award from Mr. M.M. Sabharwal, President Emeritus, HelpAge India. Mr. Chauhan after finishing his Bachelor of Arts & Commerce from Pune University, followed by taking up jobs at two different Banks, until he started his own company by the name of Coral Newsprints Ltd. It was hardly a hint to what course his life would finally take. That affected not just his, but that of Indian sports.
He played for India in Test Cricket from 1969-1981 as an Opening Batsman. He was appointed National Selector of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI from 1986 - 1988 and was appointed Manager of Indian Cricket Team by the BCCI in the year 2001 for tours against Australia and Zimbabwe. Mr. Chauhan has also served as President of Board for Veteran Cricket in India.
He received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 1982 from the Government of India for proficiency in Cricket. He has scored more than 12,000 runs in First Class Cricket.
At present he holds the chair for the Vice President of 2010 Common Wealth Games Village Committee apart from holding responsible positions with the Delhi and Uttarakhand State Cricket Associations.
