Job Title - Project Coordinator

 Qualification:   Masters in Social work or Psychology or equivalent

Experience:     Minimum 5 Years’ experience and adequate exposure to Geriatrics and HIV/AIDS Care and Support

Terms of Reference

1.      Will be based at the project office in Rajahmundry , East Godawari District, AP.

2.      Will be the link between the project MMUs and the community, including older people, local population, local leaders, HIV/AIDS service providers, health care providers, government social protection departments and officials and others.

3.      Will be trained by NACP in Counsellor’s training, at IPM, Calicut , for Palliative Care and by HI for administrative responsibilities.

4.      Will be capable of initiating monitoring and evaluating the project

5.      Will report to the MMU in-charge, HelpAge India Head Office

6.      Will supervise the activities and work of other project staff, namely, Social Protection Officer, doctors, nurses, drivers and village level volunteers.

7.      Will supervise the HIV/AIDS, TB and palliative care services rendered by the MMU teams.

8.      Will ensure that all the project staff are trained in HIV/AIDS work through NACP, Palliative Care and MMU work as per protocols set by the project & HelpAge India

9.      Will administer the project and ensure that

a.       Project documents are filed systematically.

b.      Accounts are maintained and reported as per HelpAge India norms.

c.       Budgetary limitations are not exceeded.

d.      Procurement of medicines, consumables, kits, IEC and ACSM material, office stationery, etc. are carried out as required by the project and as per HelpAge India norms.

e.       Equipment purchased is used and maintained as per HelpAge India norms

10.  Will ensure that reporting of project activities, including a separate report of MMU services is carried out on a monthly basis and as and when required.

11.  Will link with local health care providers including those of govt., NGOs and private sector and ensure that the project services and beneficiaries are linked optimally to them. Will ensure training of these providers as per the PIP.

12.  Will mobilise local communities to form OPAs and ESHGs with the aim of assisting people in need of HIV/AIDS care and support, Palliative Care and age-care.

13.  Will establish rapport and links with the offices of the District Collector, AP-SACS offices and other govt. functionaries which may be potentially positive in influencing the project.

14.  Will establish links with referral and tertiary care centres for referral of patients, HIV testing, sensitisation to palliative and age care.

15.  Will organise and coordinate training activities under the project.

16.  Will carry out counselling of clients, elderly and people requiring HIV/AIDS counselling.

17.  Will plan, develop and carry out and supervise ACSM activities in the project sites

18.  Will report MMU activities on a monthly basis to HI head office.

19.  Will work in coordination with HI State Programme Officers and HO MMU team

20.  Will carry out other tasks as required for the improvement of the project and for improved HI and project goodwill as directed, or in consultation with programme supervisors.

This is contractual position initially for the period of one year with a possibility of extension based on performance and will be based in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The position requires travel to poor rural and urban sites on a daily basis.

Job Title - Doctor
 

DESIRED PROFILE:

Qualification:   MBBS or equivalent; prefer candidates with Fellowship in HIV/AIDS or MD, Community Health.

Experience:     Minimum 5 Years’ experience and adequate exposure to Geriatrics and HIV/AIDS Care and Support.

Terms of Reference

1.     To manage the MMU health work and to motivate and take control of the unit as a whole, ensuring that the desired services are provided and outlined activities are carried out as planned.

2.    To run the out-patient clinic at all the MMU sites; listening to and examining the elderly patients coming for medical care and to prescribe appropriate medicines as per standard clinical norms.

a.     Take a full history and carry out physical examination of the patients

b.      Prescribe medicines as appropriate, ensuring that;

                                                   i.      The patient, and an attendant in case the patient is disabled in this regard, comprehends the need, dosages, schedule and side-effects of the medicines prescribes.

                                                 ii.      The use of medicines is minimised (rational use of drugs), both in quantity and variety.

                                                iii.      Effective and harmless alternative non-drug therapies are tried first or together with medicines so as to reduce side-effects, increased pill load and cost.

c.    Document history, findings and prescriptions on prescribed cards and records.

d.    Refer cases to the Social Protection Officer (SPO) for counseling whenever necessary

e.    Refer those cases that are in need of advanced management, investigations, hospitalisation and/or any other care that cannot be provided by the MMU to appropriate referral healthcare centres

f.      Make home visits on a routine basis, especially to those of very sick, bed-ridden and disabled elderly in the site who have been identified by local volunteers and MMU staff

g.    Provide these clinical services in an elder-friendly manner that is reassuring to the patients and to their families; spending time, explaining in detail and being tactile as necessary

3.     To provide group counselling to elders at the MMU sites on health topics.

4.    To organise and assist in the training (empowerment; capacity building) of elders where required and planned by the programme.

5.    To establish effective and meaningful linkages with government, NGO and private healthcare providers for additional primary, secondary for tertiary care, in-patient care, laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures.

6.      To establish effective and meaningful linkages with other HelpAge India partners involves in providing  services to destitute elders, shelter, social protection and eye-care and other medical services

7.     To ensure that MMU records, registers, cards and other MMU documents are filled, maintained and updated by the concerned team members

8.     To supervise the activities of the local health volunteer(s) assisting the MMU

9.    To carry out the above responsibilities along with other relevant MMU team members

10.  As Physician in HIV Care and Support:

a.       Responsible for the medical component of care

b.      Run outpatient clinics for patients with advanced diseases

c.       Refer HIV suspects or clients with high risk behaviour to counsellor for counselling and HIV testing

d.      Support the home care teams by

                                                   i.      Discussion of clinical issues/directions on management plan

                                                 ii.      Liaison with local hospitals for admissions/procedures

                                                iii.      Consultations over phone

                                               iv.      Visiting patients at home as and when requested by nurse/social worker

e.     Involve in training programs in HIV/AIDS, including training of OP in the MMU sites.
