85% of the 12 million visually impaired in India can be cured by a simple operation that costs Rs. 1000 and takes only 15 minutes to perform. A simple cataract surgery not only restores vision, it also restores dignity. Because often it helps the elderly start earning again thereby reducing their dependence on others. HelpAge facilitates 15,000-30,000 free cataract operations every year.

Donations to HelpAge India are eligible for 100% tax exemption under section 35AC and 80GGA of Income Tax Act 1961. (Applicable in India only)
