JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Mission Head- AgeCare (MH-A) shall be a part of the senior management team, responsible for formulating and implementing the strategy, designing and leading programs, and managing the operations of the AgeCare Mission of HelpAge India.
The AgeCare Mission runs a number of community-based programs supporting long-term care needs, advancing active ageing, building elder response systems and developing an age-friendly environment (urban systems, policies) for the elderly. The programs (implemented jointly and in coordination with state teams) include Senior Citizen Homes, Active Ageing Centres, Elder Helplines, Geriatric Caregiving and Functional mobility and Assistive Technology/Aids.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior development professional to play a leadership role at one of India’s most respected non-profits, focused on the welfare, development and empowerment of elders.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing and continually updating the strategic and operating framework of the AgeCare Mission; designing and implementing programs, driving research and policy advocacy for the areas under the mission
- Responsible for overseeing AgeCare program operations across the country, covering annual planning, budget development, ongoing tracking/MIS and stakeholder management;oversee the recruitment, training and development of a skilled team capable of delivering high quality elder care programs
- Lead research, needs assessment and analysis, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative trends to identify gaps/opportunities to address in thematic areas of AgeCare and its intersectionality
- Develop new frameworks and models of care, support and empowerment, responding to current and emerging needs, and focused on disadvantaged segments. These include long-term care (LTC) needs – community based, home care, districted level integrated models and other approaches. For the urban elders (working through Senior Citizen Associations and similar), support active and productive aging, through training/ empowerment programs – digital, legal, financial and others, and building age-inclusive urban systems
- Raise resources and coordinate with Resource Mobilisation teams with concept formulation, proposal preparation and resource mobilization support;Identify institutional donors for funding support and potential value propositions
- Build partnerships with key stakeholders – government (centre, state), corporates, development institutions, social sector organizations, and others.
- Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning for the mission work, and establish metrics for success (output-outcomes framework) and regularly assess progress to ensure they meet project and organizational goals. Use data driven insights to refine programs and report on progress.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the AgeCare team, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with other Missions at HelpAge(Healthcare, Livelihoods and Advocacy), with Functions (Finance, HR, Communications and others) and State leadership and teams, for advancing AgeCare mission and overall mission of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
- Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in Social Welfare or Social Work and/or Masters in Hospital Management/ Administration, or a related discipline;
- Applicants with a public health and social care background shall be at an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 15-20 years of experience, with exposure to elder issues (social/healthcare focus with eldercare link), or overseeing and running interventions for the destitute/ elderly/ others;
- Prior experience working with different stakeholder groups, and thematic areas, across a large number of states in India
- Familiarity with various Central and State Government policies and priorities
- Prior experience in development work, particularly in the areas of program design and management and building relationships with government, NGOs, and donors, and resource mobilization shall be an added advantage
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven ability to lead, implement, and manage programs (several initiatives, at scale)and deliver results working with several stakeholders; ability to drive and track activities at individual, project, and state levels, while working in a matrix organization;
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively articulate HelpAge India’s proposition to senior leaders in the Government, CSR, and development sector, leading from the front in key meetings/presentations
- Ability to develop innovative solutions and approaches
- Experience in research, monitoring, evaluation
- Experience in proposal development, planning, and budgeting
- Prior work experience with senior/ geriatric communities, in health or any other domain;
- Excellent writing/ editing and verbal communication skills in English and at least one or more Indian languages;
- Ability to work in close collaboration with team members and remote field offices; Strong Inter-personal and leadership skills, with the ability to train/ motivate/ retain teams and resolve conflicts;
- Ability to work independently and to deadlines;
- Good organizational and administrative skills with the ability to set and manage targets/ budgets;
- Demonstrated capabilities in establishing, stabilizing, and upgrading standards and operating procedures.
- Ability to independently lead (like a key account manager) strategic relationships with key stakeholders and potential HelpAge India clients/partners in both the public and private sectors.
- Financial acumen is essential – the ability to seize opportunities and budgets. Etc
