About SAVE
HelpAge India’s SAVE – ‘Student Action for Value Education’ programme was launched in 1979 and was aimed at sensitizing young children towards elder needs.
It has 3 core tenets:
- Inculcating values of care & respect for the elderly in schoolchildren
- Preparing today’s children & youth for their old age
- Creating an age-friendly society
The SAVE Programme
HelpAge partners with over 6000 schools across the country to work together in various interactive & engaging ways, to sensitize young minds towards the elder cause. Students of member schools form SAVE Committees within their own schools headed by the Principal and guided by teachers.
To amplify the spirit further, they engage in ‘acts of kindness’ like visits to old age homes, day care centres and other project locations.
The Value of Fundraising
Instilling empathy in the children towards their grandparents via intergenerational engagement is surely of utmost importance. Equally important is to educate them on the vital role of financial stability in the retired phase of life. From the school level, they need to be trained well about starting early with futuristic investments and financial planning, so that they can always live with independence and dignity. A starting point for this is a healthily competitive fundraising through a fun raffle. This makes them feel proud and responsible in amassing support for the vulnerable elderly and in the process, they also become ‘SAVE CHAMPIONS FOR ELDER CARE’!

How can I donate to your organization?
Will I get a tax exemption for my donation?
Yes, you will receive a 50% tax reduction certificate under Section 80G, which will be sent to your registered email address or postal address.
How do I receive my 80G certificate?
The certificate will be sent to the email address provided by you at the time of donation upon successful completion of the transaction. Alternately, a physical copy will be posted to the address provided by you at the time of donation.
Do you accept donations in cash or in kind?
Yes, we do accept donations in cash. However, if you like to avail of tax exemption for your donation, you can only contribute Rs 2000 cash in a financial year.
What if I misplace my tax receipt?
