HelpAge India Marks International Day of Older Persons 2025
AdvantAge 60: Powering Aspirations
On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) 2025, HelpAge India is proud to celebrate the incredible potential of India’s senior citizens. Far from being the end of the road, life after sixty is a new chapter of positive ageing — a phase where experience, resilience, and wisdom come together to create meaningful impact.
This year, our campaign seeks to shift the narrative from dependency to empowerment. We believe in ageing as an AdvantAge: a powerful second innings where elders continue to lead change, drive innovation, and nurture communities.
Our theme, “AdvantAge 60: Powering Aspirations,” resonates with the United Nations’ call: “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being, Our Rights.” It’s time to embrace healthy ageing, active living, and elder rights as pillars of a stronger and more inclusive society.
Nationwide Events
This year we are marking the day with events across the country:
- Panel Discussions with thought leaders from government, media, private sector, start-ups, and the elder care community, exploring how seniors can shape the future of India.
- Recognition Ceremony honouring centenarians and elders above 80 who have made remarkable contributions in their later years, proving that active ageing can truly transform lives.
The Campaign
Through #AdvantAge60, we celebrate the power, promise, and potential of life after sixty. Our campaign challenges ageist stereotypes and promotes a vision of ageing that is:
- Active – seniors who remain engaged, independent, and vibrant.
- Enabled – elders supported with the right opportunities and care systems.
- Empowered – older persons whose voices, rights, and aspirations matter.
By highlighting stories of ageing with dignity and purpose, we aim to build a culture where elders are seen as contributors, leaders, and changemakers.
Join HelpAge India in reimagining ageing — not as a challenge, but as an opportunity for growth, innovation, and hope. Celebrate elders with us this International Day of Older Persons and help us shape a society that values every generation.
