The festive season brings us back to the people who are home to us – Our Elders. A home that calls us back to our roots, a place we go back to, to feel that sense of comfort, love and familiarity and of course homecooked food.
Our elders, are the keepers of tradition, the holders of wisdom, the ones that held the family together, made sure that our growing years were filled with joyful memories.
This Diwali, we take out time for those who spent an entire lifetime on us, HelpAge India carries this thought through its #GenerationsTogether and #HarUmarSaath campaign into the festive season, celebrating the power of love, kindness and belonging, bringing generations closer and making every age feel valued & included.
Rooted in Care, Contribution and Connections, the campaign celebrates elders, their wisdom and experiences, the connection we share with them, and the care & contributions that keep enriching our lives each day.
Older persons continue to shape our families and communities with their knowledge, abilities and experience, while younger people bring fresh perspectives and possibilities. Love & respect grows when we listen, value each other and make room for one another in our lives. There is something deeply reassuring in knowing that whatever our age, we still matter to someone.
HelpAge India encourages families, communities and organizations to carry this warmth beyond the festive season. There are many older persons who are all alone, have no one to celebrate the festivities with, many can’t even meet their basic needs to live a dignified life.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little kindness, a caring gesture or simply being there for someone to make them feel loved and valued. Together, we can build an age-friendly society, where no one feels forgotten and every voice matters.
Because the feeling of belonging, should stay with us long after the festivities end.
