HelpAge India Report 2026: At a Glance
HelpAge India’s national research report, ‘Climate Resilient Ageing – Ensuring Care, Dignity & Agency’, draws on the experiences of 2,224 older persons across 20 districts in 10 states to better understand what shapes climate vulnerability in later life.
The findings reveal that climate vulnerability among older persons is shaped not by age alone, but by a range of interconnected factors, including health and mobility limitations, economic circumstances, living arrangements and geographic location.
At a time when India is navigating both climate change and population ageing, the report offers important insights into the realities facing rural older persons and the support they need to build resilience.
Older persons are already navigating climate-related challenges. The question is not only how we protect them, but how we strengthen the support systems they rely on, recognise their capacities and ensure they have a voice in shaping solutions.
